About Course

Course Objectives

Participants will learn how to program the PLC using IEC61131-3 standard and interface with the IO Link Master using the Ethercat protocol to retrieve the sensor status and control the actuators. They will also learn how to program the HMI to do graphical display of the sensor status and even learn to control the actuators with a click of a button.

Course Description

Topics covered are:

A. Introduction to IO Link Technology (2 hrs)
- Difference between traditional sensors/actuators vs IO Link Sensors/actuators
- Configuration of IO Link devices on PLC

B. Communication between the PLC and IO Link Master (4 hrs)
- Setup the communication interface between the PLC and IO Link Master
- Learn to retrieve the data from the different types of IO Link sensors and control the actuators

C. Introduction to HMI programming to interface with the PLC and IO Link Master (4 hrs)
- Basics of HMI Programming i.e creating I/O controls and etc and learn to interface with the PLC
and IO Link Master
- Learn how to create the necessary control of the IO Link actuators and display of IO Link sensor
values (Process Data) using the HMI

D. Case studies with assessment (4 hrs)
