Trainer's Profile
Ong Teck Soon
Ong Teck Soon holds a BSc in Computer Science from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), an MSc in Consumer Electronics from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), an MSc in Mechatronics from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and an MSc in Education from the University of Western Australia (UWA).Teck Soon spent 8 years working in the aerospace industry before joining Ngee Ann Polytechnic. During this time in aerospace, he specialized in avionics, focusing on the Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO), and retrofitting of military aircraft. This experience provided him with a deep understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of aerospace electronics.
After transitioning to Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Teck Soon began teaching Electronic and Computer Engineering as well as Aerospace Electronics Engineering modules. In addition to lecturing, he has undertaken numerous industry consultancy projects for organizations such as MINDEF, GINTIC Institute of Manufacturing Technology, ADEMCO, and various SMEs.
Moreover, he has taught Power Electronics at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) in collaboration with Glasgow University, enriching his teaching portfolio and expertise in advanced electronics subjects.
Teck Soon's involvement in Assistive Technology has been significant. As a project lead for numerous assistive technology projects, he has presented papers at iCREATE conferences, contributing to advancements in this important field.
He is also a recipient of the National Day Commentary Award as well as the NP Level Teaching Award. He was conferred the Public Service Medal (PBM) in 2020 by the People's Association (PA) for his involvement in grassroots activities.
His key domain areas are Electronics, Microcontrollers, Coding, Engineering System Design, and Avionics, where he continues to develop and share his expertise through teaching, research, projects, and consultancy work.
Benjamin Wing Liang Ze
Benjamin holds a Master's in Science in Electrical Electronic Engineering from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and a Bachelor's with Honors in Electrical Power Engineering from Newcastle University. In addition, he has a diploma in Electrical Engineering from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, specialising in clean energy. During his academic journey, Benjamin successfully completed two final year projects involving the design of dynamic wireless chargers for electric vehicles using Ansoft Maxwell for simulation and hardware construction.Benjamin’s academic background has equipped him with the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to excel in the field of electrical engineering. He have a strong understanding of electrical installation & systems, circuit analysis, power electronics and renewable energy sources.
Benjamin started his career in at ST Engineering Electronics, he led teams in testing and commissioning communication systems for railway projects, specifically the TeTRA radio system. Working both locally and overseas, Benjamin collaborated with various railway stakeholders, such as
Benjamin also teaches the National EV Specialist Safety programme, focusing on EV charging infrastructure’s electrical safety and provisions.
