Course Objectives

Participants will be equipped with the fundamentals of electrical technology, function and operation of the automotive electrical components and their inspection.

Course Description

Trainer's profile
Steven Xu is a senior lecturer in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, he worked at Cycle & Carriage, Mercedes-Benz Singapore, Indeco Engineers before joining NP. He had 10 over years of working experience in automotive industry. He holds a Master's in Science in Precision Engineering from NTU, and a Bachelor's in Automotive Engineering from South China University of Technology.
Besides teaching the Diploma courses and supervising the students’ final year projects, Steven Xu also developed and conducted various automotive courses, such as the following certifiable courses:

  3. Automotive Powertrain and Chassis Technology
  4. Automotive Hybrid Technology
  5. Vehicle electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and diagrammes
Steven Xu is leading a team for developing and conducting NESS (National EV Specialist Safety) courses, both for cars and buses.
Steven Xu worked with Singapore Standards Council, Singapore Motor Workshop Association (SMWA), and other industry partners to develop a Singapore Standard on Motor Workshop SS662:2020.
Steven Xu actively engaged and contributed in the following working groups:
  • Technical Expert Panel of Certification for Technical Specialist (Bus) organized by LTA and IES
  • IES Automotive Technology & Standards Working Group
  • IES EV Maintenance Sector Taskforce Group
  • AQAC Land Transport Automotive Bus
