Course Information

This 16-hour short course adopting a blended learning model over 2 days is designed to equip learner’s knowledge and practical techniques in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Learners will gain insights and understanding of the different types of SEN such as Autism, ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, dyspraxia and other visual/sensory/auditory processing conditions. The challenges of students with SEN will be examined as well. Learners will learn to apply various strategies to support the behaviour of students with SEN in the maintenance of the daily routine, working on homework and involving in play with other students within the student service setting.  

This is one of the four short courses that can be taken separately by learners and stacked towards the Certificate in Student Management.

Student Care coachers. Professionals who are working with students aged 7-14 years old.

Learning Outcomes

The course aims to prepare students to demonstrate:
At the end of the training, the course would equip participants with the following learning outcomes:
• Demonstrate understanding of the various types of SEN
• Demonstrate understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN
• Demonstrate the competency of application of support strategies of behaviour in maintaining the daily routine, working on homework and engaging in play of the student with SEN within the student service setting

Delivery Mode: Lessons will comprise lectures and practical with a mixture of online learning and face-to-face on-campus mode.

Lesson Plan

Synchronous Online (Total of 8 hours)
– Introduction to Autism, ADHD and ADD

Face to Face (Total of 8 hours)

Certification

A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass the assessment.


Participants will further obtain a Certificate in Student Management upon completion of all 4 courses in the program.


Course Fees

Funding period for this course is from 11 Aug 2022 to 30 Sep 2024.

SkillsFuture Credit

GST Increment in 2024
