Course Information

Mobile Photography is for everybody! It is basically a format of photography created with mobile devices. If you have a smartphone, you can be a mobile photographer.

Join this 2-day CET Course and experience the joy of photography without worrying too much about the technical aspects of photography like Aperture and Shutter Speed. By using your smartphone’s camera features together with the essential photography skill you will be learning from this course, you can take your photography to the next level.  Less is more, if less can free you from the constraint.  Let’s have fun and enjoy the simplicity of Mobile Photography.

Mobile Photography will be conducted using smartphone. However, the aesthetics of photography you learned in this course is applicable to all formats of photography. If you have a digital camera and would like to bring along and use it during class, please feel free to do so.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Able to use the correct camera feature/setting of the smartphone to best capture the image you want.
  2. Able to problem solve in real-life shooting situation in order to capture image that best communicate your visual idea/intent.
  3. Able to use a variety of photography skill to create a photograph that has good visual interest to draw attention and engage your viewer.

Course Dates: 13 Jan 2025 – 14 Jan 2025
Application Period: 11 Nov 2024 – 22 Dec 2024
Duration: The 2-day short course consists of 8 hours of classroom activities and 8 hours of on-site learning/practice (including a photography field trip).

Time: 9am to 6pm (including one-hour lunch break)
Venue: Ngee Ann Polytechnic

b. Edit your photograph and create a mini portfolio for submission

Trainer's Profile

Siew Kee Liong
Siew Kee Liong is a visual artist with vast experience in large-scale photography and digital videography. His works have been exhibited in Singapore, Japan and the USA. Kee Liong earned a Bachelor of Science in Motion Pictures in 1989 and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography in 1991. Since then, he has conducted numerous seminars and workshops on digital media, motion graphics and non-linear editing for enthusiasts and professionals. His trainees have come from the public sector, such as the Ministry of Education, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic, as well as media organisations, including Mediacorp Studios, Singapore Press Holdings, Walt Disney, CNBC Asia and CNN (Hong Kong).
Peter Yeo

Trained in instructional design, computer animation and design in the USA, Canada and Australia, Peter Yeo has over three decades of teaching and industry experience in the field of Creative Digital Arts, specialising in digital photography, videography and 3D animation.

Peter has received awards in academic excellence from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and China’s Zhejiang University, an elite C9 League institute of higher learning.

Isaac Ong

Isaac is a multi-platform media trainer with over 15 years of teaching experience. With a deep passion for capturing compelling images and a strong background in both creative and technical aspects of the visual arts, Isaac has trained numerous students in technical theatre, audio-visual technology, and photography. With the ability to simplify complex techniques, he empowers students to elevate their photography skills and develop their own unique artistic vision. Isaac majored in Cinematography and Film/Video Production with a bachelor's degree from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia.

Certification

A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass the required assessment.


No prior knowledge of photography is required.


Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for beginning photographer, photography enthusiast; content creator who wants to use photography to value add their work;  and anyone who wishes to have fun in taking better photograph.

Equipment Requirements

  • The 2-day course will be conducted using mobile devices. However, if you have any digital camera and would like to bring along and use it during class, please feel free to do so

Course Fees

Funding period for this course is from 1 Jul 2023 to 30 Sep 2024.

SkillsFuture Credit

GST Increment in 2024
