Lesson Plan

Stage 1: Empathise (2 hrs of contact time)

Participants identify users to gain insights and emphatic views so as to connect critically with current and future needs. At the end of stage 1: Participants conduct fieldwork and collect new insights.

Stage 2: Define + Ideate (8 hrs of contact time)

Participants download and synthesize fieldwork data/insights in order to produce a point-of-view of a clearly defined and actionable problem statement. This lays the foundation for coming up with ideas that go beyond obvious solutions, using appropriate ideation techniques. Participants eventually produce innovation options that have fluency and flexibility. Participants then undergo a considered selection process that carries forward into prototyping. At the end of Stage 2: Participants work as a project team to produce a prototype, carry out testing, and analyse results.

Stage 3: Review test results to gain insights (2 hrs of contact time)

Participants share the results of their testing and evaluate if there is a need to refine the prototype solution, redefine the problem, re-frame the point-of-view, or learn more about the user/s.
