The programme provides you with a strong foundation in academic literacy skills, mathematics and biology to facilitate your progression towards a diploma course in nursing.

Lesson Plan
This module trains students in the skills of academic research, writing, and presentation to meet the needs of polytechnic education. Students will be involved in writing exercises, class discussions and mini lectures, which are contextualised in contemporary issues on health and medical disciplines.
This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of mathematics and its application in nursing practice.
This module aims to provide students with a comprehensive foundation on the principles of basic biology with its relationship to physics and chemistry. Students will acquire fundamental knowledge to facilitate their pathway into Diploma in Nursing.
Trainer's Profile
Desmond Loo, a registered nurse and dedicated health profession educator, has embarked on a lifelong learning journey culminating in a Master of Counselling, a Master of Gerontology, and a BSc in Nursing (Honours). Transitioning from a nursing career in a restructured hospital, Desmond is now a dedicated full-time lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Health Sciences.
Passionate about adult education, Desmond specialises in teaching various courses, including Mental Health Nursing, Writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Management of Agitated Patients for Nurses, and Counselling and Communication Skills for Nurses.
Within the School of Health Sciences at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Desmond plays a crucial role in delivering modules focused on clinical skills and mental health nursing, catering to both diploma students and adult learners. His commitment extends beyond the classroom, as he actively contributes to the continuous learning of practicing nurses through specialised courses.
Certification
The CBSEN has a validity of two years. As such, CBSEN graduates are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Nursing at the next two admission exercises.
Entry Requirements
(a) Any one of the following qualifications:
- NITEC in Nursing; or
- Higher NITEC in Paramedic and Emergency Care; or
- Higher NITEC in Eldercare; or
- Certificates awarded by the School of Nursing/ Ministry of Health, Singapore for the training of Enrolled Nurses.
(b) At least one year of cumulative post-enrolment nursing work experience as an Enrolled Nurse (EN) in healthcare settings

Funding period for this course is till 31 Dec 2024.
GST Increment in 2024
