Course Information

This course covers essential skills required by leaders in the twenty-first century workplace. These include managing for team performance, impactful communication and skills for complex problem-solving. To acquire effective team management skills, participants will learn how to generate clear and understandable team goals, identify productivity indicators and apply strategies needed to close performance gaps. They will also be equipped with tools for decision-making and problem-solving.

Learning Outcomes

Participants should be able to:

1. Monitor and Assess Team Performance by: – Generating clear and understandable team goals – Identifying examples of quality work and successful standards – Using team discussion and reflection to compare team performance to goals – Identifying strategies needed to close performance gaps

2. Acquire skills for task-focused team roles, which include: – Organizing skills essential to getting tasks done – Decision-Making skills for options evaluation and decision – Problem-Solving skills to develop solution options – Communication skills to communicate ideas and performance – Delegating skills to manage job distribution – Feedback skills to give constructive feedback
