DATA PREPARATION WITH PYTHON
- How to import data from various sources such as flat files, excel files, json.
- Use SQL to navigate and extract data stored in structured database
- Understand the various types of data types: nominal, ordinal, continuous, text, date etc.
- Perform preliminary data analysis on a data set to produce a data summary.
- Understand how to deal with badly formatted data
- Process data to prepare data for further analysis

Lesson Plan
- Importing Data from various sources such as CSV, JSON, Excel files
- SQL language to manipulate data stored in a structured database
- Cleaning Data to ensure proper formatting, dealing with missing values, assigning proper data types to fields etc.
- Processing Data which includes transforming data into different structure formats, encoding data, normalisation of data values etc.
Certification
In-class assessments.
A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all required assessment(s).
A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who meet the 75% attendance requirement but did not pass all required assessment(s).
Entry Requirements
- Applicants should be conversant with basic IT skills and have basic programming experience
- Applicants should preferably have passed GCE ‘O’ Levels course of study
Course Fees
Funding period for this course is till 31 Dec 2024.
SkillsFuture Credit
